I never thought I’d be writing reviews on hotels I have stayed in, tours I booked, the restaurant I have eaten from and more. Well, I never thought I’d be able to travel outside the Philippines either.
I’ve been to Paris twice. My first time was back in 2014, and the second time was last May of this year. I traveled alone in 2014, but this time I was with my Hubby and my American family – Lolo and Mommy Barb.
When I was booking everything (yes, I booked everything), I have many factors that I have considered -especially in booking hotels.
FIVE FACTORS I CONSIDER WHEN BOOKING HOTELS
1. Location. Paris is a big city. Though you can walk to almost everywhere, the location of your hotel is still something you would want to consider when booking it. I booked a hotel that is walking distance to the Metro Station at least. If you have access to the Metro, you can go anywhere in Paris. You would also want to stay away from the unsafe neighborhood. It is helpful to read the reviews on the hotels you are considering booking.
2. Price. I have set a budget for hotels. Setting your limits on hotels let you narrow down your options.
3. Comfort. Honestly, comfort is a deal breaker for me. After a long day exploring the city, I would like to sleep in a clean, comfortable and safe hotel room. I believe safety should be in this category. Because it’s uncomfortable feeling unsafe.
4.Wifi. Having wifi in my hotel room is not necessary, though it would be great to have it. Not all hotels offer Wifi in every room.
5. Hot water. Since I became Americanized, hot shower is one of the most important things in my life. I just can’t take a cold shower anymore.
For this post, I am going to review Best Western Hotel Faubourg Saint-Martin in Paris.
Best Western Hotel Faubourg Saint-Martin is 14 minutes walk or 7 minutes by car from Gare du Nord. It is also close to Metro Station and bus stop.
As you can probably tell by looking at the picture that this hotel is not that big, but it is modern and updated.
This hotel also has an elevator, so you don’t have to worry about carrying your big luggage upstairs. They also have a separate room at the reception where you can leave your luggage if you arrived before check-in time or your flight doesn’t leave hours after check-out time.
They have a nice sitting area where you can sit and wait while they are preparing your room or waiting to check-out
Our room was small with a queen size bed in the middle. Though the room was small, the bed and pillows were comfortable.
Like I have mentioned, this hotel is modern and updated. Though the shower area was too small without a door or a curtain, it has a water heater.
The breakfast area is in the basement. I cannot say anything about the breakfast because we did not eat there. But don’t you like the ambiance in this breakfast area?
The receptionist in this hotel was very friendly and helpful. We had him called us a taxi and airport shuttle.
Before I end this post let’s do the factor check:
✔️ Location. It’s close to Metro Station and bus stop. It is also in the safe and quiet neighborhood.
✔️ Price. It’s close to Metro Station and bus stop. It is also in the safe and quiet neighborhood.
✔️ Comfort. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows are comfy. I also felt safe.
✔️ Wifi. Wifi was available in all rooms. I was able to check my e-mails and weather for the next day.
✔️ ✔️ ✔️ Hot water. wink*
Overall, this is a nice travel hotel. I do recommend it if you do not have a problem with tight and small spaces.
I hope you find this review helpful. If you ever think about booking this hotel or any hotel, I suggest you compare the prices between TripAdvisor or Booking.com and their official website.
How about you? What are the things you consider when booking hotels?
